I went to the Eastern Camp Meeting, and about 700 people registered, and among them, 500 are English-speaking and 200 are KM. They are Korean people, and the numbers are gradually increasing, so people are very worried. Of course, that 200 number includes those who will participate on the weekend, so the number has decreased quite a bit, and people are very worried. But I heard this year that the registration of our KM, our Korean-speaking church members, for this Western Camp Meeting is higher than any other year. I am truly grateful, and I earnestly hope that your beautiful hearts will bear great fruit during this camp meeting period. These days, it's not that hard to drive here, right? You drive, right? Yes. In some people's cars, if you turn on the automatic driving, the car drives to the destination without even touching the steering wheel. We live in such an era, right?

So, some people, when they are tired, wear sunglasses and sleep while coming to the camp meeting. It's true. Those who ride Teslas will probably understand what I'm saying. It has become a very good world. Still, you should be careful when driving. I don't know if you came three years ago, but I once recommended hymns that you can sing according to the speed of the car you are driving to those who came to the camp meeting. Does anyone remember? Yes. If you don't remember, please listen to them and try singing the hymns I recommend when you return home after the camp meeting. When you are driving at 45 mph, the hymn you can sing is, of course, in English and Korean. God will take care of you. Then, when you are driving at 55 mph, Guide me, O thou great Jehovah. Almighty Jehovah, lead me.

When you are driving at 65 mph, the hymn you can sing is Nearer, my God, to Thee. When you are driving at 75 mph, Precious Lord, take my hand. And when you are driving at 85 mph, Lord, I'm coming home. I have left the Lord far behind, now I am coming. That is the hymn. When you are driving at 95 mph, This world is not my home. As the title of today's camp meeting says, shouldn't we look at a hopeful tomorrow? Right? This is the current location and status of the Korean churches in North America. According to the North American Church Directory published by the North American Signs of the Times, there are 137 churches, meeting places, and groups, and about 150 pastors are working.

The North American Church Association, which you are interested in, has had 16 pastors move during this period, which was a long-cherished desire of the North American Church Association. Therefore, I am so grateful to be able to report to you that pastor movement has been carried out better than ever, and there are almost no churches that are having a hard time because the movement is stagnant when the church wants it. Of course, I think this was easily achieved through the many conference presidents and church leaders contacting the association and working together for this. I sincerely thank you. And if I briefly talk about the association's finances, I can say that the association's finances are stronger than any other term. The reason is that the association fees sent from each church to the association have increased, and fundraising has been consistently done well. And another thing is that when I took over the association, the total finances of the association were about 170,000 to 180,000 dollars, and this fund was almost exhausted if you combined the association president's one-year salary, travel expenses, and some ministry expenses. So, despite some small criticism, I decided to work two jobs to help the association's finances, so the association's finances are better than ever, and now the association's finances exceed 600,000 dollars.

So, from next year, I can tell you that the association's finances have become strong enough to help small churches with mission or evangelism funds, and it will probably be announced in the Church Journal before the end of the year. Especially, when churches with 30 or fewer members currently need special funds for evangelism or missions, we will consult with them and help those churches financially, and it seems the association can now start working on that. Please continue to show a lot of interest and especially pray a lot. Of course, the association is also subsidizing the operating funds for this camp meeting, although it is not a large amount, but I didn't just come, I brought an envelope. I thought the Camp Meeting Committee would like it, so I brought two envelopes. One I brought from the institutions I am affiliated with, and one I brought from the Southern California Conference, and another one I brought from the association. Treasurer, please receive them.

Everyone, I brought two photos because there is good news for our tomorrow. The photo you are seeing is a photo of the graduation ceremony of the Top Management Leadership Course hosted by the North American Korean Seventh-day Adventist Businessmen's Association held last week. The Businessmen's Association, composed of Korean Seventh-day Adventist businessmen living in North America, has been organized. It is called Jikaba, and while there was no gathering of successful Adventist businessmen in North America, after a leader elder in Southern California and the association worried and discussed together, the Korean Adventist Businessmen's Association was finally organized and started its activities. It is an organization created to share their successful business know-how with our churches in North America, share good business information, and ultimately, to exert a good influence and impact on churches and church members to unite and work hard for God's work. It is truly an expected and desirable thing for the future of our North American church, and I think more detailed news will be reported in the Church Journal in a month or two. The youth mission movement, Kayam, which had stopped for a while during the pandemic, has started its activities again. Without exception, our children are supporting Kayam. Isn't our tomorrow bright? Please do not spare any help, both physically and mentally, for our children. This time, about 120 of our junior high and high school children participated in Kayam's activities. For a week, they ate and drank at the La Sierra campus, and while discussing how to dedicate their future to God, they participated in the Kayam program. More students could have participated, but because the school could not provide enough dormitories, there were countless students who could not participate. Like this, our children are now participating in such beautiful events and gatherings and preparing. And although it has continued in the West until now, I think that movement will continue in the East from next year. Recently, due to various operational difficulties of Kayam, the North American Association has directly acquired Kayam, and the North American Church Association is directly managing and operating Kayam.

Our North American Church Association's general secretary has become the chairman, and he is leading this ministry while communicating closely with the EN pastors, so please pray a lot and help a lot. And when these children receive Kayam training and go to church, please never treat these children like little children, but recognize them as true little missionaries, and please make sure to provide a good environment for these children so that they can have a beautiful opportunity to exercise leadership in the church. Someone says that, isn't the North American church going to have no future in a while? It is becoming an aging society, but everyone, because these children are trying to study bilingualism no matter what due to the influence of K-culture these days, and because they are in a consciousness that they must be bilingual, if these children grow up well, what will happen? The future of our church is these children.

So, I especially ask you to pray a lot for these children and show a lot of interest. Now, let's look at the Word of God. Joshua 3:5 says, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.' How hopeful and heart-fluttering is this word? God is filling our hearts with amazing wonders. He says He will do it among us tomorrow. This word is what Joshua commanded the people today in front of the Jordan River, which was overflowing due to the rainy season, which they had to cross to enter the promised land of Canaan after 40 years of wilderness life. After the Israelites left Egypt, they crossed large waters twice to enter the land of Canaan. Once was the Red Sea, and the second was the Jordan River. These two crossing histories are events that happened over two days.

The Red Sea was a story of the experience where Moses stretched his hand over the sea, and God made the seawater recede all night, so the next morning, if we say today, it is tomorrow morning, the people crossed the sea without even getting their feet wet. On the other hand, the crossing of the Jordan River was an experience of crossing the Jordan River the day after Joshua said today, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.' Everyone, when thinking about the Israelites' two crossing experiences, which experience of our faith life today seems closer to our experience? Is it the Red Sea? Or does it seem like the Jordan River? I think it's the Jordan River. Although these two facts, these two events, are the same in the fact that they crossed water, if we look closely, we find that the Jordan River crossing had a very different aspect from when they crossed the Red Sea. When they crossed the Red Sea, there was nothing the people did. God did not require anything from the people either.

It was just that Moses held up his staff and stretched his hand over the sea, and the Red Sea parted, and the people crossed. Even the people, what did they say to Moses in front of the Red Sea and even rebelled? They even criticized him, saying, 'Was there no burial place in Egypt that you brought us out to die in this wilderness?' But God parted the Red Sea and saved them regardless of their change. However, 40 years after this happened, God is making a different request to the Israelites through Joshua than when they crossed the Red Sea in front of the same water. What is He requesting? It is to consecrate yourselves. Tomorrow, God will do wonders and make you cross the Jordan River, and for that, the people must have the experience of being consecrated today. When they had the experience of being consecrated under Joshua's leadership, eventually the Jordan River water stopped, and they personally experienced the amazing power of God as they walked across the Jordan River. And then the conquest of Canaan finally began.

Everyone, what kind of time is tomorrow for us? Is it a time when the Lord will do amazing wonders among us as Joshua said to the people? Then, do we also have enough life or time to consecrate ourselves as God requires so that we can also witness those wonders? Everyone, we may wonder why God's power does not work in our lives. You may wonder why God worked in the Old Testament and the New Testament, but why doesn't He work today? But when this Word of God today challenges us, 'Have you consecrated your lives enough to witness His wonders and power?', what answer will we give? Everyone, Robert Murray M'Cheyne said the following: 'Learn holiness in every aspect of life. Whether you will be used entirely depends on this. If Satan has made you a person who craves praise, physical pleasure, and good food, he has already ruined your life. Therefore, devote yourself to prayer. Study the Word and receive your words and thoughts from God.' Luther said that he devoted his most precious three hours to prayer.

Everyone, we all live looking at tomorrow. Some people's hearts flutter when they think of tomorrow. It is because they look forward to the wonders and grace that God will bestow, even though they are not yet visible. But there are also those who let out a deep sigh when they think of tomorrow. It is because there is a worry that they could not tell anyone, tears they endure alone, and a heavy burden they could not even bring out before God. Because of health problems, children's problems, livelihood problems, church problems, and relationship problems, there may be some of you who are deprived of sleep at night due to worry about what will happen tomorrow. So, people keep calculating, preparing, and trying to hold on to what they can hold on to. Of course, preparation is important. But isn't it something we all know from experience that all our preparations cannot guarantee our peace of mind? Because tomorrow is not a time in our hands, but a time in God's hands from beginning to end. So, we must realize how important the time called today given to us is. Depending on how we live the time called today, tomorrow is bound to be decided.

The Russian writer Dostoevsky, whom you know well, was sentenced to death in 1849 at the age of 28 on the charge of joining a socialist revolutionary group. He was dragged to the execution site on a cold winter day when it was 50 degrees below zero. Three people were tied to pillars, and he was in the middle. He had 5 minutes left. He had lived for 28 years, but it was the first time that just 5 minutes were thought of as gold. How did he use these 5 minutes? He spent 2 minutes giving his last will to the people dragged to the execution site, 2 minutes organizing the life he had lived until today, and the remaining 1 minute looking at the earth and nature. As he thought this, he said his last farewell to the two people tied next to him with teary eyes, and after thinking about his family for a moment, 2 minutes had already passed. Now, as he thought about himself, the thought of where he would go after 3 minutes suddenly made his eyes go dark and dizzy.

He regretted very much that he had not cherished every moment of the 28 years. He wished he could live again, he would use every moment lightly, but his heart only ached. At that moment, a metallic sound rang out, and at the same time, an unbearable fear of death struck him. When he was thinking, 'Is my life ending like this?', a dramatic event happened. A soldier came from afar, waving a handkerchief, bringing the Emperor's special pardon. Dostoevsky was called out from there, lived in exile in Siberia for 4 years, served as a private in Central Asia for 5 years, and was able to return to Moscow in 1859. He could never forget the preciousness of time he felt at the moment of his execution, and after that, he became absorbed in the problem of the soul, and in his novels, the religious final victory always appeared. Immediately after being released from Siberian exile, Dostoevsky confessed his faith in Jesus Christ in a letter like this.

There is no one as perfect as the Savior, so beautiful, profound, full of longing, feminine, and yet masculine. I say that there is absolutely no one as perfect as Him, and there cannot be. There is something more to say, and that is that even if someone proves to me that Christ is not the practitioner of truth and that in reality, truth is in a place where Christ's hand cannot reach, I would not hesitate to abandon that truth and join Christ's side. I cannot imagine a human being in a state without Christ. Everyone, the theme of this camp meeting, 'Today for Tomorrow,' is truly meaningful. Before God changes our tomorrow, He touches our today first. He raises up broken hearts, revives cooled prayers, and holds onto shaking faith to prepare for tomorrow. Rather than showing us the future all at once, God opens up tomorrow by making us take one step at a time with faith today.

So, a more important question for a person of faith is not what will happen tomorrow. It is the question, 'Whose hand am I holding today? Who am I trusting and living with today?' Perhaps God is telling us to hold onto the Lord tightly today rather than giving us all the answers for tomorrow at this time. Proverbs 3:5-6 says this: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.' This short word contains the secret to walking the path of life correctly. It is the fact that God wants to be trusted with all our hearts and acknowledged today for our tomorrow. God hopes that today we will trust Him and bet our lives on Him. I visited Jeju Island briefly while visiting Korea a long time ago, and a placard on a street caught my eye.

What did it say? 'Betting my life on Gukbap (soup and rice).' I thought it was a very interesting bulletin board, so I took a picture and was going, but as I went a little further, I found out the reason for this sign. It was Yutung's Gukbap house, a delicious house, a cool house. While looking at this, I thought of two things. First, I felt a sense of praise. I envied and liked the philosophy of the owner who was doing business with such passion and dedication that he would bet his life on it. And second, it was a pity. What is Gukbap, is it really a Gukbap worth betting one's life on? Is Gukbap really meaningful enough to bet one's life on? Then I thought about what would happen to that person's life if people didn't buy the Gukbap he made. And as I walked along the Cheonggyecheon in Seoul, Gwanggyo appeared, and as I passed by there, another advertisement caught my eye.

'Betting my youth on a bowl of Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles).' It seems Korean people are good at betting things. It is the story of a young owner who runs a Kalguksu house.

Everyone, aren't the people of the world truly amazing? They bet their lives and youth on a bowl of Gukbap and a bowl of Kalguksu, but where should we bet our lives? Where can we boldly say we are betting our lives? Everyone, it's a story I tell for fun, but after the Coca-Cola president made Coca-Cola a famous brand worldwide, a reporter asked him, 'President, what is the secret to making Coca-Cola so successful?' And what did he say? He replied, 'What flows in my body is not blood, but Coca-Cola.' Isn't that why Coca-Cola is so successful because he had that much passion? Even in those Muslim countries that hate America, there is no US embassy, but what is there? There are countless Coca-Cola signs. Everyone, what should we bet our lives on? What are we betting our lives on, and are we sitting here today?

People dedicate themselves to what they think is important, what is fun, what they think is meaningful, and what is beneficial and profitable, and they bet their lives. Then, where should we dedicate our lives? While waiting for the time called tomorrow, what is the most valuable thing in this world that we should dedicate our lives to today? I want to give you two challenges at this time as we start the camp meeting. First, I want to say that I hope we dedicate the sincere time called today to the work of comparing our character with Christ's character and becoming like Him. Isn't this word in line with what Joshua said to the Israelites in front of the Jordan River, 'Consecrate yourselves'? If we want to see God's great wonders for our lives tomorrow, we need a consecrated effort to diligently become like the Lord during this time called today. Everyone, the prophet also said so.

When Christ comes, our lowly bodies will be changed and become like His glorious body. However, the lowly character will not be made holy then. The change of character must be achieved today before He comes tomorrow. Our nature must be pure and holy, and we must have the mind of Christ today so that He can joyfully see His image reflected in our souls. And the same thing was said on page 332 of Christ's Object Lessons. What did it say? 'Character, molded after the divine likeness, is the only treasure that we can take from this world to the next.' Those who live according to Christ's teachings in this world will take all spiritual knowledge to their heavenly home. And even when we go to heaven, we will continue to progress. Therefore, it is very important to develop our character in this world. Everyone, of course, revealing Christ's character will not happen in an instant. But isn't today always a time given to us? So, I hope we practice becoming like the Lord very diligently for the Lord who will come tomorrow during this time called today.

If we don't practice and train, even if we seem to be like the Lord, our hearts are still dirty like the lyrics of a hymn, so might something happen that we cannot help but be ashamed of on the day the Lord comes? Do you know this word? It is the English word 'face the music,' which literally means to face the music. But the original meaning is to bear the consequences. Do you know how this word came about? Many years ago, a person wanted to perform at the Royal Opera House. But this person was a person who could not play any instrument. But because he was an incredibly rich person and had great influence, he wanted to enter the orchestra and perform before the King by any means necessary. Rather than performing, he was pretending to perform. After the conductor gave in to the pressure and allowed it, he placed this person in the second row of the orchestra. Even though he was a person who could not read any sheet music, he was given a flute. When the concert started, he held up his instrument and moved his fingers like a real performer, and he also imitated the mouth shape of a performer. This deception lasted for two years. But one day, a new conductor took over the orchestra, and he announced that all performers would have individual auditions to see how well they were playing.

It was to pick out and remove the performers who did not reach the new conductor's standards. One by one, the performers played in front of the conductor. When it was finally his turn, this fake flutist, full of worry, made an excuse that he was sick. But when the doctor diagnosed him and found that there was no problem at all, the conductor demanded that he come quickly and show his performance. Shamefully and embarrassingly, this fake performer had no choice but to confess that he was a fake. That day was the day he had to 'face the music.' This means that when the Lord comes, our character could be just like this. It means that there is eventually a time when the fake is revealed. Respected saints, preparation for the last days is not just knowing events. There is a more important preparation than knowing what the mark of the beast is or when the tribulation will come. It is that our character today becomes like Christ.

The change of character is something that must be achieved today before Christ comes tomorrow. The change of the body happens at the moment of the second coming, but the change of character happens today in obedience, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Don't we know well that our character is not something that is decorated by saying it is decorated? Isn't it that the true colors are revealed someday? You know the French Revolution well, right? This French Revolution was a truly difficult event for the nobles. For many years, people who had money and power in France ignored, insulted, and forcibly caused suffering and starvation to the commoners. On the other hand, people like the nobles enjoyed a luxurious life. Finally, the French Revolution broke out, and the time to pay back returned. The guillotine was chosen as a method for people's revenge. During the French Revolution, many nobles tried to avoid the guillotine by disguising themselves as commoners and trying to escape the country without being caught.

However, there was a marquis named Condorcet among them, and this marquis wore a farmer's shabby clothes and tried to escape near the border. His plan seemed to be going well until he arrived at an inn full of real farmers. This disguised noble went into the inn, sat at a table, and was so hungry that he ordered food, and he ordered an omelet made with 12 eggs, and that was the problem. The problem was that he ordered such food in front of people who could never eat such luxurious food. So, this noble eventually had to be dragged to the guillotine because of that one mistake, an event that happened during the French Revolution. Pretending to be something we are not is not an easy thing. The truth is bound to be revealed sooner or later. This is the reason why we need to help our character for the Lord's return now.

The Lord said this through the mouth of the Apostle Peter: 'Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.' When this Christ is achieved in us through our training and help, the last thing we must do is go out and testify. As we know, character building and evangelism are the most important things for us today, preparing for the second coming of Christ tomorrow, right? If character change is not achieved, can evangelism be successfully achieved? We know it can never be achieved. Our unchanged character becomes a stumbling block that prevents people from fully encountering the gospel. What is the use of evangelizing with difficulty and getting them to come to church? Isn't it an everyday occurrence that someone who hasn't changed their character hurts them and drives them out of the church again?

So, a person named James D. Mello recorded this confession: 'When I was young, I was a revolutionary. So, my prayer to God was always like this: Lord, give me the power to overturn the world. I must change the world once. Give me the power to do so. As time passed and I reached middle age, I realized that half of my life had passed in vain, so I changed my prayer. Lord, give me the power to change everyone I meet. Not the world, but just give me the power to change everyone I meet. As I got older, I prayed like this: May my family, friends, and I be satisfied. Give me the power to do so. But now that I am old and counting the remaining days of my life, I have realized my stupidity. I scold myself, wondering how there could be such a foolish person. And I pray like this: Lord, give us the power to change ourselves.'

Now, give me the power to change only myself. Now I have realized. If my prayer had been like this from the beginning, my life would not have been in vain. At least I would not have lived a life like this now. It means that.

Do you say our life is a traveler's life? In Hebrews 11:13, all our predecessors of faith who lived by faith and fell asleep in faith were called what? They were called travelers. Travelers heading where? Travelers heading toward a better homeland. All people who live traveling the world are divided into two categories. First is a traveler, second is a wanderer. The first person, a traveler, is a traveler, and the second person is a vagabond. Then, where is the difference between a traveler and a wanderer? It is the difference between having a destination and not having one. In the Bible, what did it say about us? It said we are travelers. Travelers going where? Travelers seeking a better homeland.

Then, when does our traveler-like life end? When Jesus comes again. That is why we are called second-coming travelers. Everyone, a second-coming traveler is captured by two spirits while traveling to a better homeland. First, it is to have a character change while preparing for the second coming, and second, it is to live by proclaiming this second coming, that is, to live by spreading the gospel. These two things are the spirit of a second-coming traveler. Character change and gospel evangelism. But surprisingly, these two have a close relationship that cannot be separated. God could proclaim His truth through sinless angels, but this is not His plan. God uses people who have many shortcomings as tools to carry out His plan. God could have achieved His purpose of saving sinners without our help.

However, to develop a character like Christ's character, we must share His work, it was said in Christian Service. God showed Ellen White in a vision how the people of God who will be in the last days will prepare for His second coming: 'Every Christian saw the image of God's love and mercy in his brother. Only one interest prevailed. One prominent subject swallowed up all other problems. The only part of the believers was to manifest a character like Christ. Character change. And to work for the expansion of the Lord's kingdom, gospel evangelism.' This is what the counsel to the church says. Everyone, is our character change absolutely important? What did it say is the only thing we will take to heaven? Didn't it say only character? It said we must dedicate everything we have to character development and change. And everyone, in Christian Service, it says to all Christians living in these last days, 'Use all the property and all the wealth you have for the purpose of helping your Christian character.'

It said that our wealth should be used in any way that our character can be changed. Respected saints, after doing so, when our character is changed, witnessing and evangelism will be successful, and the Lord knows that the evangelism we do and the mission we achieve will have an enormous influence. Everyone, I will finish my words by telling you one story and then conclude. Everyone, a poor Scottish farmer named Fleming was working in the field one day. At that time, a scream was heard from a nearby swamp. Immediately, he put down his tools and ran to where the scream was heard. But when he arrived there, a boy was struggling to get out of the deep mud, and it was not easy. Then, this farmer Fleming stood in the swamp and barely grabbed the boy and saved the boy who might have slowly sunk into the swamp and died if it weren't for him. The next day, a very luxurious carriage stopped in front of the small and shabby farmhouse where Fleming lived.

An elegant and luxuriously dressed noble got off the carriage and introduced himself as the father of the boy that the farmer Fleming had saved. And the gentleman said, 'I want to reward you for saving my son's life.' To that, Fleming replied, 'No. I just did what I had to do. There is no need to reward me. I just did what I was supposed to do.' Everyone, if it were us, if we were living a farmer's life, we might have thought, 'What a windfall? This is a chance to hit the jackpot. I will quit the farmer's life and live coolly,' and we might have received the wealth, but this farmer rejected it all. 'No. I just did what I had to do as a Christian,' he replied. Just then, a boy came out in front of the farmer's house door. When the noble looked at the boy who came out of Fleming's house and asked, 'Is this boy your son?', the farmer replied, 'Yes.'

Then the gentleman said, 'Then I have a proposal. I will take your son and give him a good education. If this boy resembles his father, if he resembles his father, he will grow up to be a beautiful Christian young man that you can be proud of later.' The farmer, who felt very sorry because he needed expensive tuition to educate his son properly, was willing to accept the proposal. Meanwhile, his son graduated from medical school at St. Mary's Hospital in London and became the world-famous Sir Alexander Fleming. Who is this person, everyone? Alexander Fleming. Isn't he the famous person who first discovered penicillin? But the story doesn't end here. A few years later, this gentleman's son caught pneumonia and was severely ill, and this penicillin saved his life. And the name of this gentleman was Lord Randolph Churchill. And the name of his son was Winston.

Who is it? Yes. It was Sir Winston Churchill, the great politician who saved England and the Allied forces in World War II. Everyone, the influence of the good deeds and evangelism we have done with a changed heart and a good heart is God's way of producing results that exceed our imagination. In that sense, I am sure that the Western Camp Meeting we are participating in this time will be a beautiful time that makes us know what we should do and what we should prepare today for the time called tomorrow, and challenges us.
