but the people that call themselves Christians, that's a different story. What's going on? What's going on? That that people like Jesus, the good news, but they don't like us. Can I tell you maybe why that's happening? Because there are people who say they are followers of Jesus, but they don't do what Jesus did. Oh, I'm talking to myself today now. I'm talking to myself. There are people who call themselves Jesus followers, but what the but the people outside who are faith curious, they don't see that same Jesus in us. Yeah. Hurt my soul. And I think it's because, and let me just tell you this, if if I use the word B R A N D, that says what?
B R A N D is what? Brand. We've got a brand problem. As people who call themselves followers of Jesus, they don't equate what Jesus who Jesus is with who we are. What they see and what keeps them even from joining or being a part of us is because they see and this is an old word and it's been used for a lot. They see us as hypocrites. This is the research. This is what the research they did a whole study on this called engaging the spiritually open. And they discovered that the people like Jesus but they don't like us because they see a disconnect from who Jesus is and who we say we are.
And so the question for us is more important than it's ever been before. What would Jesus do? that question that that that WWJD is a real serious question today because we've got to find a way to bridge the gap for who they believe Jesus is and who they see that we are to be. We got to bridge that gap. And the way to bridge that gap is to recognize that whatever Jesus did is what we ought to do. Amen somebody. What Jesus did, we ought to do. how Jesus walked this earth. We have to walk the earth in the same way. Because I want somebody to be sure that when they see who Jesus is, they can see him in me.
And we can sing songs and we can go to church and we can keep Sabbath and we can do all those, but if we don't do and act like Jesus, we've missed it and our witness is gone. What would Jesus do? And so my young church, my young brothers and sisters, thank you for the spirit, your show. I mean, just today I've been I wish I was here all week because it's so important that Jesus lives in you. Now, when you practice the way of Jesus, what would Jesus do? We're really talking about the practice of Jesus. Now, Jesus did a number of things, and I can give you several of them. I want to give you just a few of them before you before you go back because when you leave this valley, when you leave on this top of this hill into the valley, you're going back to the real world.
This is great. Cam meet is good. You might have a cam meeting girlfriend, boyfriend. I get it. It's good. Make sure they keep in touch. Now, we used to back in my day, we used to write letters. You guys just like DM, right? So, keep in touch. Keep in touch. Don't let it just Yeah. Anyway, all right. But when you go back into the real world, right? going back into your old it's so important that you find time to practice these things. I'm going to try to give you just a few of them that I think is so important that Jesus practice that that we need to do. Now, when I hear the word practice, when I hear the word practice, I think about being a a a young kid and my mom wanted me so badly to play the piano, right? And so, I took piano lessons. Anybody take piano lessons? Anybody take piano lessons?
Okay. All right. Hope you Wow, that's a lot of people. Is that kind of a Korean thing? I mean, you It is. Okay. Well, that was my problem. I wasn't Korean. So, mama, that was the problem for the I didn't know that was the problem for the beginning. If my mom had known that, she would have wasted all that money on piano lessons. You need to be Korean. All right. Now, I know. Wow, man. No wonder the music is so good here. Okay. So, my mom spent all I mean, I started piano lessons maybe about nine years old. I took piano lesson. I'm so embarrassed by this. Especially for all of you who play the piano. I'm really embarrassed. But can I just open up a little bit here with you? Be a little vulnerable. I took piano for six years and I can't play anything.
Don't laugh. It's not my poor mother. She wasted all that money. And the reason but I was like so you would think if I took piano less for six years what's the problem? Well you know what the pro and you already know what the problem is right the problem is when I should have been practicing I was playing baseball. Those two just don't go together. Right? If you're going to play the piano and all you piano players know this. You have to practice, right? So, here's Mark. Come in and practice. No, I want to play baseball. And so, therefore, I got good at baseball. Terrible at the piano. When we talk about what would Jesus do, we're talking about the things that Jesus practiced. Say practice.
Practice. The things that Jesus practiced. And and there's a phrase that says practice makes perfect. No, not really. But practice makes permanent. Woo. I'm dropping some good stuff there. Here's my amen quarter over here. There's my amen quarter over here. Oh, thank you. Amen quarter. I needed you guys. I needed you guys. I'll say it again. Practice doesn't make perfect, but practice makes permanent. Amen. That's my amen group. Thank you. And that's why those of you who play the piano and if you play it well, it didn't just come to you. You practiced and it's permanent. You can get up and play stuff by ear. You can just get up and play, right? Some of you read the music. It's in you. It's in you. And the practices of Jesus, when we practice those same things, it's in us. And when it's in us, people see what's in us and they see Jesus.
So, so we must practice the things that Jesus practiced. And there's several things, but I just got to give you a few of these these core practices of that Jesus. One of the things that Jesus practiced and and we talked about being with Jesus. One of the things that that that helps us listen to me young church. Listen to me young church. You will never really be like Jesus unless you spend time with Jesus. And the way to spend time with Jesus is you got to be alone. Sometimes you got to turn off the television. I mean the television. Y'all ain't saying amen to that. I got you. I got you. You're like, "Oh, whoa.
Now wait a minute. Wait a minute." Right. Sometimes you've got to just put your Now, this is going to be a real hard one. Sometimes you got to just put this down cuz you know what Jesus did? The Bible says, The Bible says that Jesus would often go to quiet places and spend time with the father. One of the most powerful practices you can ever do is to quiet yourself to spend time in the presence of God. Not with everybody, not with your home boys, not with your home girls, not with just you. There's a song they used to say, "It's me. Oh, it's me. It's me, oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer. Not my mother, not my father, but it's me. Just you."
The reason why is because as you get older, your spiritual experience can't be your mother's spiritual experience. Your spiritual experience can't be your father's spiritual experience. It has to be yours. You and Jesus. And the Bible says, "Be still and know that I am God." So whenever you have problems, whenever you have challenges, sometimes you got to get into that quiet and secret place and talk to God yourself. And that's solitude. Sometimes we should fast from media. You know, a lot of times I'll watch if I'm watching television, I'm watching the news, but you know, I can't even watch the news a lot because I get depressed. Do I have a witness in this place? I get depressed.
How many murders do I need to hear about? How many robberies do I need to hear about? How much corruption do I need to hear about? How much disaster? And that was a 24-hour loop. It's just going and on and on. Jesus says, "Be still and know that I am God." Just you. Solitude. The second thing that Jesus did, it was it's connected to the same thing as solitude. He would go into a quiet place. The Bible says in Luke chapter 5 and verse uh uh 16, he he he wasn't an introvert. He he but he would go into a quiet place. It wasn't because he needed a little me time. He would go there and pray and he would say and and we understand that that when he would go there to pray, it wasn't just asking God for things. It's it's it was communing with God. It was communing with God. It was just talking to God.
You know, it sometimes we have to change up our prayers, right? We're not just God give me this and and God give me that, but spending time with prayer and and just sharing your life with God. I love this. If you've never read this book, Steps to Christ, page 93, here's what here's what Auntie Ellen says about prayer. She says, "Prayer is opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to him. Glory. Hallelujah.
I love that. That quiet time when it's just you and God and you just share your stuff. That's why you don't have to tell all your friends all your business all the time. You don't have to put it on Instagram. Amen. Amen. I I can tell you. I mean, I had to get off Facebook. I just have to tell I had to get off Facebook. You know why? I was getting tired of people telling me about stuff I didn't want to know. You know, people are just Well, you guys are on Facebook. You're too young for Facebook, right? You That's for us old people on Facebook. We old people don't even know that you guys aren't on Facebook.
I had to get off Facebook. I was like, I don't need to know that you went to the store and bought carrots. I mean, really, that's the kind of stuff, you know? I was like, come on. Right. But we want to tell our business, you know, we want to share, share, we want to post pictures and we want to do all that stuff, but you know, just give it to Jesus. Give it to Jesus. Tell them about your life, your struggles, what's going on with you. And when you do that, Auntie Ellen says, you don't bring God down, you go up. You're lifted up. So spend time with God in solitude, in prayer. Oh, there's so many good things here. Um, in scripture reading, read the word of God. It is transformative when you read the word of God. Find time start. I'm telling you about when you go back from here, you've had high, you've had spiritual all kind
of spiritual good stuff. You've even you even read your Bible this week. But it's not counting when it's on the mountain. It's when you get down into the valley. It's when you get back home, find the time to read the word of God. Amen. It will transform you. It makes the difference. What would Jesus do? He spent time in prayer. He spent time in solitude talking to the father. And he spent time with scripture. And let it just transform his life. Ah, there's so many good practices. Let me give you one more. What would Jesus do? I think one of the things that we can live out what Jesus was about was Jesus was about service.
Jesus was about service. Matthew 20 28 says these words. It says, "The son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." The the way that Jesus served is in order to serve, hear me, young church, hear me, church, in order to be of service, you have to have an attitude of unselfishness. Does that make sense? to really be of service, you can't always think about yourself. Are are you with me? You can't think about yourself when you're serving others. And oh, I got some good news for you. They discovered that people who an who have anxiety and by the way they have said we are the most anxious generation that ever walked the face of the earth they have discovered get this this is good stuff but Jesus knew this a long time ago that people who suffer from anxiety they're finding now this is doesn't mean it's the only cure but
they're finding it helps to mitigate against anxiety when you're doing service for somebody else come Oh, thank you, Jesus. He already knew that. And he said, "I've not come to be served. I've come to serve and to give my life." And when we serve, we are acting like Jesus. And so, when we help those who are less fortunate, when we help those who are down and out, when we help the marginalized, when we when we stop somebody from bullying somebody that can't defend themselves, that's service. That's giving. That is helping somebody else. When we're doing mission work, that's service. That's Jesus. And when they see that, they see Jesus. My inclination is to do the opposite. I want to be served, not to serve.
But when we serve, we make a difference. Every day, every day is full of opportunities, to be like Jesus, to do what he did, to be like him, to be with him. What would Jesus do? May that question be answered in the way that you and I live our lives each day. And when we do that, the world will be convinced that Jesus is alive and he is well and he's living through his people. I got a lot of songs in my head right now because there's that one old old hymn I heard I heard our leader our our praise team leader say sometime we got to remember the old songs I heard you this morning and there's that song that says he lives he live you know that song Christ Jesus lives today oh in that song is our whole scripture today he walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives. He lives. Salvation to impart. And here's
the part. Here's the question, right? You ask me how. I know he lives. He lives within my heart. Will you let Jesus live through you? Would you answer that question. What would Jesus do? And let your life be the answer to that question. I know that's my desire. I want to I want to represent Jesus and every word and action not in order. I want to get I want I want you to get this part because I don't want you to get the wrong impression. I don't do it because I'm trying to be saved. I don't do it because I need God to say, "Hey, okay, since you're doing all of these things, I'll make sure you make it to heaven." I I want I don't want you to get that twisted. Okay? Are you tracking with me? I don't want you don't do those. We don't do those things because we're trying to be saved. It's not for our salvation. Get this. It's because
I'm saved. I can't help help but do those things. because of what Jesus means to me. Because he walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me I am his own and the joy we share. There's another song as we tar there. No one ever knows. We can let Jesus live through us. And if that's your desire and you have the same desire that I've got that says, I want to go from this hilltop experience, this this mountaintop anguin experience with all of my friends and family and and and this camp meeting inspirational experience. And I want to take this down into the valley where I live.
Would you stand? because I want to pray for us. I want to pray for us. That's your desire. I'm going to we're going to take this as a value. You've done You've done my heart good cuz the church is strong when I see you. The mission is strong because I see you. Jesus is coming soon because I see you. The kingdom is going to grow because I see you. Oh father, thank you so much. Thank you for your church. Not your church of the future, your church of the present and the future. Oh God, we want to see Jesus, our savior, our Lord, our friend, come back again. We want to hasten his coming because we want to let the world know that he's alive and he is still saving. He's still reaching. He's still calling. He's still building his kingdom. Oh God.
Oh, but he's given us the privilege. He's He's given the privilege of us being able to partner together with divine agencies. Oh. Oh, Father, we are told that that the angels that excel in strength are eager to partner with God's people to carry this message of love and joy and salvation in a world that's desperate for it. is hurting and yearning for it. And as it's always been, Jesus is still the answer for the world today. And the answer can be found in us because Jesus lives in us. And so God, as we go back into the valley, as we go back into our neighborhoods, as we go back into our schools and our families and our and our places where we live, may we take this camp meeting spirit with us and do as Jesus did.
In the name of the Father and in the name of the Son we pray it. May all God's people together say amen. Before we do our last two songs, we would just like to one acknowledge all the amazing people that have worked to make this amazing week possible. So, just give a round of applause to all of your pastors, all of your people, and all of your We do have a few people from different departments as you see. So, we have some representatives from the college department. Give a round of applause to the college department. We have some representatives from junior department over there. Here we go. We want to allow you guys to understand more about the Lord and we want to make sure that you don't walk out of here with the same mindset and the same understanding of God that you walked in with. What a powerful name it is. The name of Jesus. Let's give it up. Let's give it up for the praise team, everybody. All right, let's go have a seat. We still got some more things to do. So, we are so so so blessed tonight. And I am so thankful for every single one of us here. So, we're going to see some videos and we're going to see some fun things. I'm going to find out what all of you guys did this week. All right. I better not see any stuff that's concerning.
Okay. But before I do that, I want to thank Pastor Mark Wilson for speaking for our Sabbath today. You know, Pastor Jonathan Park, Pastor Jonathan Park introduced us to him and he said, "You guys are going to love him." He has a passion for youth ministry. He loves the youth. He loves the young adults. And he wants to invest everything and all the resources to make sure our youth stay in the church. And you know what? Today, we saw that passion in your heart. And so, Northern California, you're lucky. Only for a little bit, though, because you know why? He took a position to be the president of the Pacific Union as a nominator for this year. So, in August, he will be he will be nominated or not nominated, he'll be confirmed hopefully to be the president of the union. So, let's give him a hand one more time.
Yes. Yes. So, not only are you guys lucky, now our whole union is blessed to have your leadership under us. Um, I want to uh do a little bit of snippets of each department before they come up before they reshow their videos because I love every department and because I love holding you guys back from going to Garden Cafe. So, um I know I heard there's some good food today though. Just hold on for a little bit. All right. I only got you guys for one more night, so just bear with me. All right, so the first group we have is the cutest group on campus, right? They're called the caterpillars. They're smallest and they're very, very cute little kids. And although there are they their program was officially only morning, they were able to spend a lot of them were able to spend more than that at Paulen Hall. And we are so blessed to have this group because they are just so cute. They are
just so cute. And I know some of them are new to camp meeting and some of them are just like just I don't know man. I don't even know if they're like understanding what's going on. Some of them sleep through the whole thing and like you know but you know we're very very happy that we have this um uh uh department and I'm so thankful for this group. Why? Because my wife my dear wife okay she was a coordinator for this group right? So, I'm thankful for her as well. I I barely saw her all week. And so, let's give it up for Caterpillars. Let's see the video for Caterpillars now.
animals. Okay. Happy all the time. Having cries in my father's house. I'm a little crowd in my father's house. Joy, joy, joy. Okay. His daddy said, "You know, your big seven older brothers are off the way into a war against the Philistines." Okay? Philistines were these people, the neighbors of Israel. They were not so nice. Okay? So, they were fighting with the Israelites and there was a war and David's dad said, "You know what? Instead, I'm going to go against, right?" But was David just going by himself? No. Oh, who was David going with? God, right? Remember Jesus is always with us, right? David was going with us. Oh, nope. He's not there. What about inside the pond? Oh, nope. He's not there either. Where could he be? Where is Steven?
Oh, wait. This looks a little suspicious. Why is it No. Stop. Stop it. Oh, I got to go to the bathroom. Three days. Can we count? 1 2 3 1 2 3 And in three days, he was going to rise from. So we have angels coming down in the clouds of Jesus and there's going to be trumpet sound. Can we Everywhere you are, he's got the whole world in his hand. Get a Oh, okay. Oh, she go in. You got the board. No matter where we come None of us none of us. Oh. Okay, Janelle. One hand. One hand. Y one hand. One hand. It's amazing. He loves us all so much with love. So strong it leads me by the praise.
Let's give it up for Caterpillars, Auntie Iris and her team. Everybody. All right. Along with Caterpillars, next group was in the hottest building on campus all week long. Okay, this group, okay, is not just like spicy hot, temperature hot. It was so hot, like 200 people were inside this group without no air condition. So, if you feel moved to give to PUC, please give so that Paul and Hall can have air condition next year. Okay. Anyways, um there was about 200 people in this group and they are an amazing group of kids. There were, oh my goodness, there were so many kids. I've never seen so many Korean kids and Asian kids on the same plate. I was like, oh my word. Right. But anyways, um we are so thankful for a full day VBS program, morning, afternoon, and evening. That itself gets a hand for the whole BBS team for doing that, right? Great job today.
Yes. The coordinator for this this group was also somebody I barely saw all week because she was buried in heat, sweat, and millions of question by people asking what about this, what about that? Can I do this? Can I do this? But and uh we are so thankful that Teresa Kim and her team was able to do BBS this year. When Teresa said, "Pastor, I will give you one VBS at camp meeting." I was like, "I'll take that VBS." Okay. So, anyways, we're so thankful for the team, and we're so blessed to have VBS here. And I also want to give a special shout out to the parents and the and and the staff, but also our youth skid team that was up here today. That was they were good and they were so awesome.
Yes. Yes. So, we're blessed by everybody at EBS. So, let's see what they did for the week. This amazing world is our creator. One more time. You have another word and it's called you guys. Squeeze it. Squeeze it. Squeeze it over here. Red. Red. Nice. Show me your airplane. Show me your airplane. Oh, nice. And then unfold it. and let dry land appear. This dry land I will call the earth and this gathering of the waters I shall call the sea. man walking on this earth so many swimming bunnies chinchillas let there be safarians gazels giraffes Man and woman, look and see all that I have created for you. All this with so that you may live life more abundantly as that is my wish and hope for you.
Yes, this is very good. Here we go. and no one else. It's amazing. Okay, turn this off. You got to line up with the runway. You see it? Got it. creatures of our God and King. That's how you go left and right. Oh, burning sun with golden beam and silver moon with softer. And just make sure when you're done, hand it off. I just sinc. All right. All right. Give a hand to BBS everybody. Teresa and her team was wonderful. I I was sitting over there and I hear a lot of they're allowed to do that. They're allowed to do that. Are they really allowed to Hey, this is not life. Do not show this to PC. We don't know where where we're going with that one. Um but yes, Pam, they they clap for your uh your elephant there.
Pam spent all night making that and then he spent all night taking that apart to take it home. So anyways, the next group is our a special group with a special age, fifth and sixth grade. And their sessions this year, they learned about Daniel and Revelation and many, many Bible truth, but they also learned about how to be wise with their finances. And so we're very, very excited to invite our junior class up. Juniors. Juniors. Juniors. Look at them. You got to keep clapping while they're going up, guys. You can't just stop. Let's go. All right. Look at the You got a lot of them, man. Huh? in every soul.
Somebody might praise the Space the fire. to see it.
